Load up on youth, bring their friends
It's fun to attack and to defend
We're over-stacked and self-assured
Oh no, we got a lousy herd
With Shaquille now, we're more dangerous
Kids are here now, it's outrageous
Not the best team, seen in ages
A mulatto, two Barbado
He went first then, Han shot Greedo, yeah
Sorry, I couldn't finish rhyming as I was uninspired by this Youth Intake Day...
Well, it seems my editing of our youth set-up a couple of years ago is finally "paying off" in the sense of being more realistic. This is a horrible Youth Intake Day. There's only one immediate winner and the rest just don't look like they'll cut it.
1. Shaquille Bailey. We have The Answer at AMC, I believe. I feel that he most likely is Premier League talent.
2. Sweet! Two players from Barbados. Keeping the Brixton motif alive.
3. Yeah! Plenty of wingers! (This is sarcasm). I don't need five wingers.
4. Eight positive personalities.
5. Man, it's really hard to find 10 positive things. Bailey has a Media Description of "Committed attacking midfielder."
6. Charley Cousins might get to stick around as he's Natural at MC and ML, and Competent at AMC and AML. He'll be a good sub for the U18s.
7. Tobi Grant also might stick. He's capable on the left wing and with him being right-footed he should be able to work on the right wing.
8. B
9. O
10. O
Boo, indeed. I just can't find many silver linings in these clouds. A couple might get to stay in the U18 for two years but most are going to only get one-month trials. At least Shaq Bailey has a chance of making me stop fretting about an attacking midfielder.
That's all, folks! Nobody else will ever get near the Senior team so there's no point showing you cards.
As expected, the Candidates faltered but future star Shaq Bailey performed very well, rating 8.3 for a goal and an assist. The other goal came from right winger Mitchell Oliver. The rest were garbage. The U18s heroes were Richard Phillips with three goals and Kevin Carolan with two.
Brixton U18s 6:2 Brixton Youth Candidates
The Head of Youth Development suggest I sign all 16 lads but that ain't gonna happen. Obviously Shaq is joining the attack and gets a juicy contract, £500 per week once he turns 17. We get him until 2025 plus a 1-year option.
The first batch of scouting reports shows some talented youths ripe for the picking, if only they wanted to be picked. Bummer. (I am a bit surprised that my scouts can create 40 reports every 4 days.) By the time the scouts make it through all the players assigned, we've found no players that are good, cheap, and, most important of all, want to make a move to a town that's right for me. We talked about moving but looks like I'll just have to sign some of our youths.
